Syria and the last Battle of Aleppo

For the last six years, we have all been watching the bloodshed in Syria in what still seems to be unreal. But yet, it was and still is very real. Syria revealed the real faces of humanity, that is lacking what makes us human.
Whether in the East or West, we all aligned ourselves to one side over the other. We declared an enemy, and we all bet on a winner that we believed will overthrow the tyrant or the opposition.
I remember when the Arab Spring started, and in the row of springs, it became Syria’s turn. It was a time when I believed as probably most of the Arabs who aspired a real sense of liberty that it was time for the new generations to protest and live well. Syria with Assad, the son, definitely seemed better and less of a dictatorship, as the case of Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya back then, for the idea that Bashar belonged to a new generation that seemed more enlightening than that of his father.

After a few years in his resistance. I
Would use the word resistance, because we suddenly saw the Assad in a position where he was resisting all the powers from outside. He was seized from all directions, and yet he insisted on staying. This was when I re-thought Assad. He was young, and he could have made a different choice, leaving the country with his family and live like a millionaire somewhere on a luxurious island for the rest of his life. This confusion between him being a dictator and yet him being a real patriot made me watch with a stirring eye.
As things deteriorated, and the problem in Syria became an issue of opposition that no longer was necessary about Syrians, but yet it was under Syrians hands. Undouble, the debate itself, made of intellectuals and people in Syria was sincere, until the moment they decided to align with the devil.
Here, we saw what it means to be a patriot. Was it about Syria or Assad? How can anyone care about a country where it is practically sabotaged, kidnapped, destroyed by semi-animals, hired criminals to liberate their country from a tyrant?
The moment Syria became Assad to the opposition, everything failed apart, and the notion of opposition failed. Opposition became criminal extremism headed by Dash and Nusra and Co.
As Aleppo I being returned by the Syrians today, a lot of damage, for the people, the civilization, the culture has been done, and above all, this internal crack inside a society that became opposition and pro.
So much damage, I don’t know how it can be redeemed. All that killing. Vagrancy, forced immigration, and asylums destroyed the fabric of Syrian identity with harshness.
All the alliances and conspiracies that took place were not against Assad; they were against Syrians. We have been watching the extermination of a real civilization that preceded our current pretentious culture with cowardice, aligning ourselves on one side against the other, as if those people killed, those building destroyed, those throwing themselves to the season death boats were of a lesser human gene than ours.
The involvement of the west and the east is something that needs us all who pretend or believe somehow that this world needs some reason, to rethink of how this world works. It is a world of weapon industry. The only winner in this was all those companies aligned with countries manufacturing a weapon for people to kill each other.
The role of Israel, Saudi Arabia, specifically, the no more secret alliance that seems surprising to the naïve people of the Arab world.
We should all get to a level of logic and reason in how we analyse and promote our ideas that are pre-washed by media from all directions.
As I am watching the battle of Aleppo, I pray that Assad behaves like a real patriot to his people, and stop the bloodshed. It is time to value the life of human beings.
It is time to make an important to life through people.
After all this destruction, it will take years if not decades to rebuild … it will need individuals who can reconcile with all what happened.
It needs to unify Syrians, and all decent people in this world to stand against the power of evil that creates such criminal groups to promote killing. And leaders as Assad, need to learn the lesson that dictatorships are not the answer. Murder and violence are not how you build a nation.
It is time for us, all, Arabs, who know well that tribalism will only lead us to more fractions and wars. What has been happening in the Arab world in the last six to seven years made us look undeserving even to live. We proved that the conspiracies are mastered from inside. The enemies are us.
The whole creation of Daesh and such groups proved how hateful, resentful we are. How our notions of nationalism are nothing but false, empty, noise words? Our tribalism destroyed us. Our ignorance in our lack of knowledge that is limited to fatwas and whoever dictates us in the media is core to our deterioration as people.
I just pray that Aleppo’s liberation will be a sign of victory to Syrians who believe in Syria, not Assad. This liberation is the liberation of Aleppo from destructive inhuman power who just continue to seek bloodshed. Assad as a leader has to prove now that he is the leader for all Syrians. I actually pray he uses wisdom with all the outlawed and opposition who are there in Aleppo, giving them a chance to clean their heads that have been brainwashed, to rehabilitate instead of killing and sentencing brutally.
In the end, we cannot forget that the Assad regime has been \if not still a harsh dictatorship government where many people suffered … But yet, this government insisted on keeping the fight over Syria, a battle for all Syrians …and maybe all Arabs…. But we will need time to realize how deteriorated things are.
