Papers and sites are filled with names and photographs of the martyrs of the March of Return , telling stories of a life that had barely begun, dreams and expectations, hopes and ambitions hardly seen beyond the confines of the siege from all directions.
Blame and questions, answers and demanding responsibilities.
Between those who carry the officials in Gaza responsibility while the killing and slaughter are taking place, and those who wonder about the whereabouts of the resistance weapon, the victims remain the wounded in those bloody shootings, and the martyrs are the masters of the situation.
There are those who promote the idea that what is happening in exposing innocent people to murder is nothing but an attempt to exploit the occupation’s murderous actions, and therefore, the ongoing massacre is the responsibility of the party that is ruling the area.
There are those who promote that the occupation army kills those who armed with weapons on the line of the barbed border, and there are those who support that those killed have been paid in advance to die.
The truth is that I do not see a difference between media that tries to put the blame for killing demonstrators on Hamas, and media that holds the victims and wounded responsible for killing them.
As usual in wars, there are persistent accounts paid by the people and taken by decision-makers, and it will not be different this time. I wonder what I would do if I were in Gaza?
If I had a dream to Return, not precisely returning but the dominant aspiration of mobility. And that Return is the right of those who were expelled and lived their whole lives as refugees. I do not doubt the bitterness and longing of those who were deported and long for the return. But if I were in Gaza, it would be enough for me to seek and strive to break a cruel siege that deprived me of all the possibilities of life.
Do we want the resistance to clash with weapons while the occupation kills people and they are relentlessly isolated?
Why do not we call this engagement a direct sacrifice of more lives?
In the world of politics, there are more than what we see as those bodies that are eager to make their own efforts for the greater existence… Unfortunately, our holy cause for a bright and unambiguous right is despised by the leaders of mercenaries and people on the luxury side who think that liberation comes on Saladin convoys. But this is also no stranger to history.
What is happening in Gaza is historical. It is not because the people of Gaza are cheaper or cheaper, so they do not care about life, but because what is happening in Gaza is a real challenge and a response to the suppression of a brutal occupation.
Our enemy is clear and direct. The scene needs no justification.
When we deny the right to peaceful marches to the borders of our own land and to the towns of our cities, we must not be surprisedgreatconfrontations of their souls need for life.
What is happening is a direct confrontation with tyranny, turning into many tournaments because the extent of injustice, oppression, and oppression is intolerable and unbelievable.
What is the guilt of these children?
These young men and adults?
What guilt did a handicapped commit to being killed?
What sin does a child have to perish?
Why did Laila perish at the age eight months?
Do not lay the responsibility of our weakness on the victims.
Do not carry those who stand on the lines of fire and face aggression with their bare bodies, our falsified testimony to the occurring crimes.
The injustice that Gaza has been subjected to over the years is intolerable.
What we see is real heroism.
Un-armed bodies, young souls, lives annihilating in front of tyranny and massive military mechanisms.
The spirit of Laila and her fellow martyrs will be roaming above our fossilized hearts. Laila’s eyes, which were extinguished too early, will ask about the feasibility of seeing in a human being whose heart has been blinded.
I don’t find better than Mahmoud Darwish’s words about Gaza to close with :
“Because time in Gaza is not a neutral element … it does not push people to the coldness of observation … but it drives them to burst and to be influenced by the truth.
Time there does not take children from childhood to old age but makes them men in the first encounter with the enemy.
Time in Gaza is not relaxed but storming the burning afternoon … because the values in Gaza vary .. differ
The only benefit of the occupied is the extent of his resistance to the occupation.
It is the only competition there.
Gaza has become addicted to knowing this superior and cruel value. It has not learned from books or from urgent courses
Neither loud trumpets nor loudspeakers.
Gazans have learned it by experiment alone and with work that is not for advertising and image. ”
